Why store umbilical cord lining?

Storing the lining of the umbilical cord means keeping the stem cells that are in the outermost layer of the cord. Cordlife is the first and only cord blood bank in Singapore to have the exclusive and patented license for CellOptima™, a technology for harvesting and expanding two types of progenitor stem cells that can be collected from the umbilical cord lining – Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) and Cord Lining Epithelial Stem Cells (CLEpSCs).

Cord lining banking is different from cord blood banking. When you store cord blood, you are storing Haematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs), which are mainly responsible for making new blood and repairing the immune system.

When you store all three types of cells, you give your child and family access to the growing applications of stem cells and their therapeutic potential. Umbilical cord stem cells are the youngest and most potent cells available, and can only be collected at birth.
